93% of Real Estate Professionals Surveyed Recommend Flooring Upgrades
Wood, carpet, tile, linoleum – whatever flooring you have in your home, real estate professionals suggest spending some extra time to get them in top condition before selling. Let’s face it, some rooms in a home naturally have more traffic than other areas. Take a look at the high traffic areas of your home (hallways, entryway, kitchen, etc). Are the floors visibly worn or stained? Does your flooring simply need an update? If so, it may be time for an upgrade. Homes with Hardwood Floors Sell Faster
Do prospective buyers really care that a home has wood floors? Do hardwood floors increase the perceived value of a home more than carpet, tile, or laminate? According to a 2011 national survey of real estate agents conducted by the National Wood Flooring Association, 99% of respondents agreed that hardwood floors increase a home’s marketability. 82% of respondents also agreed that homes with hardwood floors sell faster and 90% said they would sell for more money. While hardwood floors may seem like a big cost upfront, they are a visible and valuable investment that, with proper care, will last a lifetime and increase the value of your home.
