Wood Flooring "Dumping" Could Force Customers to Buy American

In October of 2010, a group of U.S. hardwood flooring manufacturers called the Coalition for American Hardwood Parity petitioned the government to enact the "antidumping and countervailing duties" on engineered wood flooring from China.  This investigation would determine if Chinese hardwood flooring manufacturers used anticompetitive pricing when exporting to the United States.  The Coalition for American Hardwood Parity makes the case that this process, also known as "dumping", is an unfair practice that negatively impacts their business. If the Commerce Department rules in favor of the coalition, which seems likely, the U.S. could impose duties of up to 242.2% on Chinese imports.  These higher import prices could boost the demand for domestic wood manufacturers and cause more customers to buy American!
