Tips for Installing Pre-Finished Wood Flooring
How Does Moisture Impact Wood?
Pre-finished solid, engineered, or floating wood floors can save you time and effort, but it is especially important to ensure that they are properly installed. The moisture content of your flooring, sub-flooring, and overall job site needs to be controlled carefully because the wood will expand and contact with exposure to moisture; even small amounts of moisture can create problems for your floor.
Use a moisture meter to measure the moisture content of the sub-flooring before the installation. Test several areas of the sub-flooring; the average moisture content should be somewhere between 10-14%. Click on the video to learn more about the installation process.
